Beef Cattle Breeding

The total beef herd of EkoNiva-APK is 6,300 heads. The company is a breeding reproducer of Hereford cattle. Besides, the farming operations of EkoNiva raise Aberdeen-Angus cattle and perform cross-breeding of Aberdeen-Angus bulls with cows of Simmental, Charolais and Hereford breeds and low-yielding dairy cows.

Beef production

The strategy of EkoNiva-APK implies feeding male calves until they reach 240 kg for further sale to specialised feedlots. The company employs low-cost grazing technologies and keeps beef cattle on natural pastures.

Currently, EkoNiva has approximately 2 thousand head of beef cows. Thereof 590 Aberdeen-Angus cows and 290 Hereford cows are kept in Novosibirsk; 370 beef cows, including 300 crossbreeds are kept in Voronezh oblast; 100 Charolais cows and 110 crossbreeds — in Kaluga oblast and 100 Hereford cows and 245 Simmental cows — in Orenburg oblast.
