EkoNiva received two awards at the annual Danone Suppliers Day, which took place in Kazan on 26 March 2019. EkoNiva Holding was recognized in the Innovative Approach to Dairy Farm Business and Top Milk Quality categories.
EkoNiva has been productively cooperating with Danone for over 10 years, delivering not less than 100 tonnes of milk a day for further processing at Danone.
Dmitriy Popov, Sales Manager of EkoNiva-APK Holding, gave a report on organic milk production.
‘Organic milk production is a new area of activity for our enterprise’, relates Dmitriy Popov. ’We have been producing organic beef for a long time, now the time has come for the production of organic milk. We are planning to commission a dairy farm for 250 milking cows in Kaluga oblast in May of the current year.’
Simmental and Ayrshire cows will be pasture-raised, fed with high-quality haylage of legume grasses and natural grass pellets produced on EkoNiva farms. Milking operations will be carried out by four Lely robotic milking systems.
‘Looking ahead, the herd will reach 2,000 head of dairy cows over time’, adds Dmitriy Popov, ‘and we will be able to produce 40-50 tonnes of organic milk a day. By the way, EkoNiva holding has received the Top Milk Quality award for the second time in a row. I hope, we will receive such awards every year without fail, when we have our organic milk production in full operation.’
