EkoNiva completes the year 2017 with an impressive result: as per 26th December, milk production of the company’s dairies reached 1,000 tonnes per day, an unbeaten record in Russia.
EkoNiva produces over 500 tonnes of milk in the farms of Voronezh oblast alone, Kaluga oblast contributes another 250 tonnes, the rest comes from Novosibirsk, Tyumen and Kursk.
‘It is the result of a determined, long-term effort’, says Stefan Duerr, President of EkoNiva Group. ‘We took up dairy farming in 2006, with an encouragement of Viictor Shevtsov, Head of Liski district, Voronezh oblast.
It took us twelve years of hard work: construction of new dairies, introduction of advanced technologies, specialist training. Of course, it was difficult: we had to learn from scratch. Economic conditions were not always favourable for business development. The state support of the dairy industry which enabled the company to grow dynamically (in particular, recently) has helped greatly. Initially, the financing for the construction of dairies came from Sberbank. Partnership with Rosselkozbank opened up the opportunity for tremendous growth in the recent years. Ten dairies have been built with the bank’s support. And, of course, special thanks go to EkoNiva specialists, who have become a true team of skilled professionals over the years.’
Over 12 years, EkoNiva has built 15 modern dairies. The dairy herd amounts to 40,000 head as per the end of December 2017. The company intends to continue expanding production. Construction of four new dairies is underway, building works of another four will commence in 2018. By the end of 2019, according to Stefan Duerr, 2,000 tonnes of milk per day may become a new reality.
